BATON ROUGE – The LSU women’s basketball team will host Southeastern Louisiana on Thursday, December 27 at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center as the Lady Tigers return from the holiday break. Game time is set for 6:30 p.m. on the SEC Network Plus.
LSU Lady Tigers campers are welcome back for a reunion and can gain admission for $2.00 or for $5.00 including a concessions voucher.
The Lady Tigers are 7-3 on the season following last Thursday’s 76-54 win at UL Lafayette. Sophomore Jailin Cherry pumped in a career-high 15 points to lead all scorers. Ayana Mitchell and Faustine Aifuwa added 12 points apiece, while Shanice Norton and Mercedes Brooks contributed 10 points each. Aifuwa led all rebounders with eight boards and Norton tied her season-high with seven.
Norton is scheduled to play in her 100th game as a Lady Tiger on Thursday and her first wearing the SEC Graduate patch on her uniform. The senior guard graduated on December 14 with her degree in sociology and is pursuing a second degree during the Spring semester.
Mitchell currently ranks 20th in the nation and second in the SEC with a 59.8 field goal percentage. She is fourth in the league with 10.8 rebounds per game and, as LSU’s leading scorer this season, is averaging 13.7 points per game.
Khayla Pointer is second on the squad at 12.7 points per game. She also ranks sixth in the SEC with 4.9 assists per contest and is shooting 50.0 percent from the field.
Aifuwa rounds out the trio of every-game starters and is averaging 8.4 points and 6.1 boards per game with 16 blocked shots.
LSU’s scoring defense continues to be among the tops in the nation, currently sixth, and is second in the SEC by holding opponents to 51.4 points per game. The Lady Tigers are doing well against perimeter play with opponents only shooting 27.8 percent from beyond the 3-point arc.
Southeastern is 5-5 on the season and led by junior guard Celica Sterling with 14.9 points per game. Sophomore forward Caitlyn Williams is the team’s leading rebounder with 6.7 boards per game.
This will be the 39th showdown between the schools. LSU holds a 31-7 lead in the series, based on records back to the 1975-76 season, and won the last meeting on November 12, 2017, 84-56.
Patrick Wright and Jeff Palermo will call the game on the LSU Sports Radio Network. Fans can listen in Baton Rouge on Talk 107.3 FM and audio broadcasts are available online at LSUSports.net/live. Affliates KWKH in Shreveport and WFCG in Franklinton, will carry the broadcast as well.

LSU hosts USF on Sunday, December 30 at the PMAC. Tipoff on the SEC Network is set for 3 p.m. It will be Community with free admission for the last home game of 2018.
SEC action begins on Thursday, January 3 at Georgia.

Geaux Clear at the PMAC
Fans are reminded that the Geaux Clear Policy will be in effect for all LSU women’s basketball home games. Diaper bags must be clear and no larger than 12” x 6” x 12”. Backpacks, including drawstring/synch bags are strictly prohibited.
Fans with medically-necessary items will be allowed to enter the PMAC following a more thorough search at the designated inspection points. The lower level inspection will take place at the southeast corner entrance near the elevator and upper level inspection is available at the S concourse near the Ticket Office.
